FAQ
Where is iPhoneDevCamp Houston?
iPhoneDevCamp Houston will be held in the former Comcast store next door to the The Coffee Groundz at 2503 Bagby Street in Midtown. See the location page for a map.
When does it start?
The doors open at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 30th 2010. Please see the agenda for details.
Where do I park?
Unfortunately, parking is a problem in Midtown. Our venue has a small parking lot, but you will probably have to park on the street in the vicinity.
Do I need to bring a Mac?
No. In fact, you don’t need to bring a computer at all. If you want to try out some of the cool stuff you will be learning or participate in the iPhone App Jam, you do need a laptop, and it must be a Mac. The Apple iPhone SDK will not run on anything but a Mac.
How do I use the wifi?
We have 3 access points set up exclusively for our use. Access is open, and you do not need a password. Please use only these access points and not the ones for Coffee Groundz customers. The ssid’s are:
- iphonedevcamp-a
- iphonedevcamp-b
- iphonedevcamp-c
Do I need to join the iPhone Developer Program?
Again, you don’t need to join the program to attend iPhoneDevCamp Houston, but you will not be able to build apps for a device without signing up an agreeing to the terms. Joining the program is free. So it’s recommended that you sign up before the event.
Should I install the Apple iPhone SDK on My Mac Before the Event?
It is not necessary to install the SDK before iPhoneDevCamp Houston, but it is recommended if you want to play with the samples and build your own apps. Installing the SDK is not difficult, but it is a time consuming process. Therefore, we recommend you do it beforehand. If you have trouble installing the SDK, don’t worry about it. There will be a lot of people there who can help you.
Will you tell me about all of the cool stuff in the iPad SDK?
No. The details of the iPhone OS 3.2 SDK are protected under the NDA that all Apple Developer Program members have agreed to. Please, do not ask us to break our agreement with Apple in order to satisfy your curiosity.
